ROMERO OXYMEL (Rosemary Potion)

Although Rosemary is not a native plant of the North American Pacific West, I feel called to share this medicine because of the powerful story behind this particular plant and the woman who tended to her.

Romero, meaning Rosemary in Spanish, is an oxymel made with Rosemary, Apple Cider Vinegar, and Raw Honey.

I harvested this Rosemary from my partner's grandmother's garden. Marie planted this plant on her ranch many, many decades ago. She recently passed at the age of 97, one month shy of 98.

She was a fierce woman who raised 9 children and outlived her first husband by over 20 years. She ran her own ranch well into her 80's and was a longtime music teacher.

She once ran her tractor off into a ditch and got bit by a baby rattler and didn't feel the need to go to a doctor for days (she also didn't know she was bit by a snake).

She was one of the kindest and most loving women I've ever met- sharp and open minded. Her legacy lives on in our large family.

It felt so appropriate to made medicine with her Rosemary. Rosemary is very protective in the same way a mama matriarch feels: open-hearted with strong boundaries.

Rosemary is also blood cleansing, pain relieving, antibacterial, anti-fungal, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and toning to digestion.

This plant was harvested on Marie's ranch in Cottonwood, California.
